Job Description:
The Science Museum Group Internship is offering an exciting Internship Volunteer Program for 2024, providing a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in one of the world’s leading museums. The program offers a blend of behind-the-scenes experience, public engagement, and professional development. Interns will be part of a dynamic team, helping to preserve and share science and technology’s rich history while engaging with the public in a meaningful way.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with museum operations, including visitor services, exhibitions, and collections management.
- Provide support to curators and collections teams with research, cataloging, and archiving scientific artifacts.
- Participate in the planning, development, and installation of new exhibits and displays.
- Help deliver educational programs and workshops to engage visitors, including school groups and families.
- Contribute to outreach activities that aim to promote the museum’s scientific and educational mission.
- Support the marketing and communications teams by assisting with social media, content creation, and public relations efforts.
- Assist in organizing museum events, public talks, and special exhibitions.
- Ensure a positive and informative experience for all visitors by providing assistance and answering questions about the museum’s exhibitions and activities.

Requirements:
- Open to current university students or recent graduates, preferably in history, museum studies, education, science communication, or related fields.

- Availability to commit to at least 10-15 hours per week during the internship period.
- A genuine interest in working in a museum or cultural institution environment.

Experience:
- No previous experience in a museum is required, though prior volunteer work, internships, or academic projects related to history, education, or science communication are a plus.
- Experience working with the public or in a customer service role is advantageous.
