Interns and apprentices will work closely with council professionals, gaining practical insights into public sector work, while contributing to initiatives that enhance the lives of Renfrewshire’s residents. The program is designed to foster talent and help participants gain the experience and skills required to build successful careers in the public sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Support council departments in delivering key services to the public, such as planning, infrastructure, education, or social services.
  • Assist in research, data collection, and analysis to inform decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate on council projects aimed at improving community services or infrastructure.
  • Participate in meetings, project planning, and presentations.
  • Provide administrative support, including drafting reports, handling correspondence, and updating records.

Qualifications:

  • For internships: Must be currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program (e.g., public administration, business, engineering, IT, etc.).
  • For apprenticeships: Minimum of National 4/5s or equivalent (including Maths and English).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the UK.
  • A strong interest in public sector work and commitment to improving local communities.

Experience:

  • No previous work experience is necessary, but relevant volunteer work, internships, or project-based experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with local government functions or community projects is beneficial but not essential.
  • Apprentices with a passion for hands-on learning in technical, administrative, or public-facing roles will be favored.
