Position Purpose:
The Ofgem Internship Graduate Program is designed to provide recent graduates with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the UK energy sector. As part of the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), interns will contribute to initiatives that promote energy efficiency, regulate the energy market, and ensure that consumers’ interests are protected. This program offers a chance to apply theoretical knowledge, develop practical skills, and contribute to shaping the future of energy policy.

  • Support Ofgem teams in policy development, research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data on energy market trends, energy consumption, and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of reports, briefing papers, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Participate in cross-functional team projects, offering insights and innovative solutions to key regulatory challenges.
  • Help maintain regulatory compliance by collaborating with industry stakeholders, monitoring licensees, and responding to public inquiries.
  • Undertake administrative tasks as required, including documentation, meeting coordination, and event planning.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy, Public Policy, Law, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Recent graduates or those in their final year of study with a strong academic record.
  • Previous internship, work placement, or voluntary experience in a related field (such as energy, public policy, environmental studies, or economics) is desirable but not essential.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical and research abilities with attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving mindset, able to think creatively and offer solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interest in energy policy, regulation, and sustainability.
