Position Purpose:
The Nottingham City Council Internship Opportunities 2024 Apprenticeship program is designed to provide students and recent graduates with the chance to gain hands-on experience while contributing to public service initiatives. As an apprentice, you will work within various departments of Nottingham City Council, developing essential skills and knowledge to build a successful career in public administration, policy-making, and community development. This apprenticeship combines practical work experience with formal training, allowing you to earn qualifications while playing a role in improving local communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support key Nottingham City Council departments, such as housing, environmental services, education, community development, or policy and governance.
- Assist with research, data collection, and analysis to inform council decisions and initiatives.
- Participate in the preparation of reports, presentations, and policy documents for internal and public use.
- Engage with local communities, helping to facilitate projects, events, or public consultations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the implementation of local policies and programs.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as organizing meetings, maintaining records, and responding to public inquiries.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your professional and technical skills.
- Work with mentors and experienced professionals to achieve your apprenticeship learning goals.
Education:
- A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
- Applicants currently enrolled in, or recent graduates from, a relevant course (e.g., Public Administration, Business, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies) are encouraged to apply.
Experience:
- No prior experience required, but any previous voluntary, internship, or work experience in the public sector, community engagement, or related fields is an advantage.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues and the public.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Teamwork and collaboration, demonstrating a willingness to work with diverse groups of people.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or other relevant software.
