Position Purpose:
The NHS 111 Internship program for 2024 offers an exciting opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience in a vital public health service. Interns will work within the NHS 111 service, contributing to patient care and operational support. This internship aims to develop skills in healthcare delivery, communication, and service management while providing insight into the workings of a key component of the National Health Service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in responding to patient inquiries and providing guidance on health-related issues via the NHS 111 service.
- Support the team in managing call flows, including triaging calls and directing patients to appropriate care pathways.
- Conduct research and data analysis to enhance service delivery and improve patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to prepare reports, presentations, and documentation related to service performance and patient care.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote the NHS 111 service and educate the public on health resources.
- Provide administrative support, including maintaining records, managing schedules, and assisting with staff training sessions.
- Attend meetings and training to gain knowledge of NHS protocols, policies, and best practices in healthcare delivery.
- Engage with patients and community groups to gather feedback and improve service quality.
Education:
- A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
- Current students or recent graduates pursuing a degree in Healthcare, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Experience:
- Previous experience is not required, but any internships, voluntary work, or part-time roles in healthcare, customer service, or community engagement will be advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to interpret data and contribute to service improvement.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with relevant healthcare software.
- A genuine interest in public health, patient care, and community service.
