The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) offers a variety of internship opportunities through its Internship Schemes. These schemes provide valuable experience for students interested in pursuing a career in social science research.

Digital Good Network Internships: These internships are available to doctoral students at any UK research institution. They are typically 3 months long and provide students with the opportunity to gain experience working with a start-up company on a project with a social mission.

Policy Internships: These internships are available to doctoral students funded by any of the UK Research Councils (AHRC, BBSRC, ESRC, EPSRC, MRC, NERC, and STFC). They are typically 3 months long and provide students with the opportunity to gain experience working in a policy setting.

Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) Internships: These internships are available to students enrolled in an ESRC-funded DTP. They are typically 3 months long and provide students with the opportunity to gain experience working on a research project outside of their PhD studies.

Responsibilities:

Interns will typically be responsible for:

  • Assisting with research projects
  • Conducting research and analysis
  • Writing reports and presentations
  • Attending meetings and workshops
  • Collaborating with other team members
