Job Description

The College of Policing is pleased to offer the 2024/2025 Internship Program, providing students and recent graduates with the opportunity to gain real-world experience in policing, public safety, and law enforcement support functions. This paid internship is designed to introduce interns to the workings of the UK’s professional policing body, supporting the college’s mission of enhancing policing standards through knowledge, skills, and evidence-based practices. Participants will work alongside professionals, participate in projects, and receive mentorship, gaining insight into the core activities that support effective policing.

Responsibilities

Interns will contribute to various College of Policing departments and projects, with specific responsibilities that may include:

  • Supporting research and data analysis efforts that inform policing policy and practice.
  • Assisting with the development of learning materials and resources for police training programs.
  • Participating in administrative and operational tasks to support departmental goals.
  • Engaging in community outreach and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on special projects, including digital content development and communications.
  • Attending workshops, training sessions, and briefings on current policing topics and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university or college, preferably in fields such as criminology, psychology, public administration, sociology, law, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Must be over 18 and eligible to work in the UK.
  • Able to pass background checks and other relevant screening processes.

Experience

  • Prior internship, voluntary work, or project experience in law enforcement, research, public policy, or community service is desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated involvement in extracurricular or leadership activities related to public safety, community outreach, or justice studies is beneficial.
