Job Description
The City & County of Swansea is offering a range of exciting internship opportunities for 2025. These internships are designed for students and recent graduates who are eager to gain practical experience in public service. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals across various departments, contributing to the day-to-day operations and gaining valuable insights into local government. Internships are available in areas such as environmental services, urban planning, IT, social services, and more.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of projects within assigned departments.
- Conduct research and data analysis to support departmental objectives.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver solutions that meet community needs.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving public services and efficiency.
- Perform administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate program (e.g., public administration, environmental science, IT, social work).
- Strong academic standing and a passion for public service.
- Aged 18 or over by the start of the internship.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
Experience
- Prior experience in any professional or volunteer setting is advantageous but not required.
- Experience with community engagement, project management, or research will be a plus.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to work.
