Job Description:
The Census Bureau is offering exciting internship opportunities for motivated and talented students to join our 2025 Summer Internship Program. This program provides an excellent chance to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of census work, including data collection, analysis, and research, while contributing to national statistics that inform government and business decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting for ongoing census projects.
- Conduct research to support census operations and program initiatives.
- Collaborate with team members on projects related to census outreach, public awareness, and community engagement.
- Review, organize, and analyze large sets of data using statistical software.
- Support the development of public materials, presentations, and reports.
- Assist in fieldwork or administrative tasks as necessary.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as part of your professional development.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program (undergraduate or graduate level).
- Major or coursework in statistics, economics, sociology, public policy, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Experience:
- No prior experience is required, though experience with data collection, research, or public policy is a plus.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS) or data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is an advantage.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
