Job Description
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is seeking motivated and passionate individuals for its 2024 Internship Program. This opportunity is designed for recent graduates or students in their final year who are interested in gaining hands-on experience within the healthcare regulatory sector. Interns will have the chance to support the CQC’s mission of ensuring that health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, and high-quality care.
During the internship, participants will work alongside skilled professionals in various departments, gaining exposure to policy development, regulatory processes, research, data analysis, and more. The internship is an excellent opportunity to develop essential skills and insights into how healthcare regulations impact the delivery of services across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of regulatory policies and procedures.
- Conduct research and analyze data on healthcare services, standards, and outcomes.
- Support inspection teams in their assessments of healthcare facilities.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations on healthcare compliance and improvement strategies.
- Collaborate with CQC colleagues on projects aimed at improving healthcare safety, quality, and patient experience.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagement sessions to support the delivery of the CQC’s objectives.
- Provide administrative support where necessary, including handling documentation and communications.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate program, or a recent graduate (2023 or 2024) in disciplines such as health policy, public health, social sciences, law, business administration, or a related field.
- A strong interest in healthcare, public service, or regulatory processes.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Experience
- Previous experience in healthcare, policy analysis, research, or public service is advantageous but not essential.
- Volunteering or part-time roles within healthcare, social care, or public sector organizations will be considered a plus.
- Participation in university projects or extracurricular activities related to health or social care will be valued.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn new software and tools.
