Job Description
The internship program is designed for current university students seeking an introduction to the art auction industry. You’ll participate in various activities alongside experienced professionals, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Bonhams’ operations.
Graduate Programme
The 18-month graduate program provides a more in-depth experience for recent graduates. You’ll rotate through different departments, developing a well-rounded skillset and potentially discovering your niche within the art world.
Responsibilities (may vary depending on the program)
- Participate in training sessions to gain knowledge of art valuation, auction processes, and the art market.
- Assist with various departmental tasks, such as research, cataloguing, client services, or marketing (depending on placement).
- Attend auctions and viewings, gaining exposure to valuable artworks and the auction environment.
- Contribute to a collaborative work environment, providing support and learning from experienced professionals.

Requirements
- Internship: Currently enrolled in a university degree program (any discipline is considered).
- Graduate Programme: Recent graduate (ideally 2024) with a degree in Art History, Business, or a related field (not mandatory).
- A strong interest in art, auctions, and the cultural sector.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Skills
- Analytical thinking and ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative (especially for the Graduate Programme).
- Passion for art and a desire to contribute to the art world.
Experience (prior experience is a plus, but not mandatory)
- Previous internship experience (any field)
- Relevant coursework or projects in art history, business, or a related field
- Volunteering experience in museums, galleries, or auction houses (a plus)
