Job Description

The Bolton Council Supported Internship Program is designed to help young adults with SEND gain practical experience in a variety of departments within the council. Interns will work closely with Bolton Council staff to develop their skills, build confidence, and prepare for future employment opportunities. The program is tailored to meet individual needs, ensuring each intern receives the support required to thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in completing tasks and projects within the assigned department, including but not limited to administration, customer service, IT, and facilities management.
  • Work with a mentor or job coach to develop professional skills and meet personal development goals.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to build essential workplace competencies.
  • Collaborate with team members on day-to-day operations and contribute to improving departmental processes.
  • Engage with customers, colleagues, and the public in a professional manner.
  • Attend regular meetings to track progress, review learning, and set new objectives.
  • Adhere to workplace policies and health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be aged 16-24 with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to commit to the internship for the duration of the program.
  • Interest in gaining work experience and developing professional skills.

Experience

  • No prior work experience is required for this internship.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in learning and contributing to the workplace.
  • Any previous involvement in volunteer work, school activities, or community programs would be advantageous.

Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently with guidance.
