Job Description:
BCP Council is excited to announce the launch of its Supported Internship Program for 2024. This unique initiative is designed to help young people with learning difficulties and disabilities gain valuable work experience in a supportive environment. The program aims to improve employability skills and open up pathways to future employment.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in work placements within different departments of BCP Council or local partner organizations.
- Complete daily tasks under supervision, which could range from office administration to customer service or hands-on practical work, depending on the placement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to meet the goals of the department.
- Attend regular training sessions aimed at developing job-related skills, communication, and workplace etiquette.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to the policies and procedures of the organization.
- Communicate any challenges or needs for additional support to the internship coordinator.

Requirements:
- Applicants must be between 16-24 years old.
- Must have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Able to commit to the full duration of the internship program (typically 9-12 months).
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Open to feedback and willing to improve and adapt.
Skills:
- Basic communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to develop workplace skills such as punctuality, teamwork, and responsibility.
- Adaptability to various job roles and work environments.
- Ability to follow guidance from mentors and supervisors.
- Interest in learning new skills that could lead to long-term employment.
Experience:
- No prior work experience is necessary. This internship is designed to support individuals at the start of their career journey, particularly those who have faced barriers to employment due to learning difficulties or disabilities.
