Position Purpose

Aberdeen City Council is offering internships for 2024, providing students and recent graduates with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within local government operations. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development and execution of departmental projects.
  • Conducting research, data analysis, and presenting findings to senior staff.
  • Providing administrative support, including preparing reports, documents, and presentations.
  • Engaging with community stakeholders, attending meetings, and participating in consultations.
  • Supporting the delivery of public services, sustainability initiatives, or social development programs.
  • Collaborating with team members and cross-departmental staff to achieve common goals.
  • Taking part in relevant training and professional development opportunities.

Education

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university or college, ideally pursuing studies in public administration, business, environmental sciences, social work, engineering, urban planning, communications, or related fields.
  • Strong academic record, demonstrating an ability to perform at a high level in a professional setting.

Experience

  • No prior work experience required, but relevant volunteer work, student projects, or part-time roles in related fields are advantageous.
  • Experience with community work, government, or non-profit organizations will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the public sector and a strong desire to learn about local government operations.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other basic IT tools.
