Job Description

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is excited to offer its 2025 Internship Program, providing a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience within the UK’s primary competition and consumer authority. This paid internship program will give participants an in-depth understanding of how the CMA works to promote competition for the benefit of consumers, ensuring fair business practices. Responsibilities

Interns at the CMA will be engaged in a variety of projects and tasks, with specific responsibilities that may include:

  • Assisting in market analysis, competition assessments, and data collection efforts.
  • Supporting investigations and research on potential anti-competitive practices.
  • Analyzing trends and contributing to research on consumer rights and market fairness.
  • Drafting reports, briefs, and summaries to support ongoing CMA cases.
  • Collaborating with policy and legal teams to support case preparation and documentation.
  • Participating in workshops, training sessions, and briefings on competition law, economics, and regulatory practices.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university or college program, ideally in fields like economics, law, business, public policy, or related disciplines.
  • Must be over the age of 18 and eligible to work in the UK.
  • Successful completion of background checks and relevant screening processes.

Experience

  • Prior experience in internships, volunteer work, or projects involving economics, legal research, public policy, or market analysis is advantageous but not required.
  • Demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities, research projects, or leadership roles is beneficial.
