Position Purpose:
The Northern Ireland Housing Executive Internship Program 2024 offers students and recent graduates the chance to gain valuable hands-on experience within the public housing sector. Interns will contribute to projects that enhance housing services, support sustainable communities, and help improve the quality of life for Northern Ireland’s residents. This program is designed to develop professional skills while offering insight into the operations of a major public housing authority.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, development, and delivery of housing services, including social housing, repairs, maintenance, and community support.
- Conduct research and data analysis on housing trends, tenant needs, and policy impacts to support decision-making and improve services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in housing projects, including environmental sustainability, urban regeneration, and community engagement.
- Participate in meetings, project planning sessions, and contribute to the development of strategic housing initiatives.
- Provide administrative support, including maintaining records, preparing reports, and coordinating meetings or events.
- Assist in liaising with tenants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that housing services meet the needs of the community.
- Participate in public outreach initiatives to engage with residents and gather feedback on services.
- Work with mentors and supervisors to achieve internship goals and complete projects on time.
Education:
- A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a relevant degree program such as Housing Management, Urban Planning, Social Policy, Environmental Science, or Business Administration.
Experience:
- No prior work experience is required, but any previous internship, voluntary work, or relevant part-time employment in housing, public administration, or community services is an advantage.
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and residents.
- Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Interest in public housing, urban planning, and community development.
