Job Description
Portsmouth City Council Internship is offering a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain valuable work experience through its 2024 Supported Internship Programme. This initiative is designed to support individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) as they transition from education into paid employment. Interns will receive on-the-job training, mentoring, and tailored support to help them develop essential workplace skills. The programme aims to provide a supportive environment that enables interns to build confidence and prepare for future employment.
Responsibilities
As part of the Supported Internship Programme, interns will:
- Work in a real job role within Portsmouth City Council departments or partner organizations.
- Carry out specific tasks and responsibilities assigned to their role.
- Receive support from a dedicated job coach to help understand and complete tasks.
- Develop employability skills, including time management, teamwork, and communication.
- Attend regular review meetings with their mentor, job coach, and managers to track progress.
- Take part in job search workshops and receive guidance on applying for paid employment after the internship.

Requirements
- Must be aged between 16-24 years old.
- Have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

Experience
- No previous work experience is required for this programme.
